Season: 1996-97

This was a season in which Burnley pasted many of the big boys and played some of their best football for years, but contrived to be not quite good enough on the day. It started with a terrific away-day win at Luton, followed by two more victories to put them top of the table, but Burnley never reached the top 3 again all season.
